HIMS - 2330 Health Information Management Applications I Prerequisite(s): HIMS-1250 Co-requisite(s): HIMS-2330L and HIMS-2730 This course examines, through literature review and hands-on lab experiences, the foundations of health information technology used in the collection and management of clinical information. Topics covered include the function, content, and structure of the health record; primary and secondary data sets; healthcare information requirements and standards; the transition from paper-based records to electronic health records; and the functions of a health information management department.
